Ordered this mainly as a reading lamp. It looks nice. It was really easy to put together. And one thing I love is, though the on-off switch is at the top of the lamp, there is a separate switch on the cord that I can keep by my side, thus allowing for changing, turning on, or turning off, from my recliner. Don’t let people trying to sell those “sunshine” lamps fool you. I tried one from Hammacher Schlemmer. Paid a good .00 more, and it was UN-USABLE. The glare on the TV and on reading material made me miserable and I had to have the light shade turned down completely to keep from blinding anyone else in the room. Check out something simple like this, instead, if you just want to be able to see to read. I’ve gotten lots of compliments on its looks, too.

I had bought this lamp due to not having enough space in my room for a table lamp and it definitely works well. The frosted shade protects from any glare on my television and it lights my room perfectly. The only problem with this lamp is that I had bought it with the expectation that it could dim using a 3-way bulb, however it is not capable of doing so. The product features state: # Rotary 3-way switch on torchiere and rotary switch on reading lamp However there is neither a rotary switch on the reading lamp nor an actual 3 way switch. Don’t get me wrong, this lamp was worth the purchase due to the Amazon Prime eligibility and cheap price, although I wish that the feature description actually matched the product I had received.

The glass shades are beautiful and the metal work is also very nice. The only things I would change would be to give the reading light it’s own switch and give the torchiere a 3-way option. It has a nice, heavy weight, decorative base. I thought the price was very reasonable, too. |

We are trying to find lighting for our cathedral ceilings. My mom likes bright rooms are we are trying to find lighting that can bring that brightness into a room. We are trying to avoid skylights, because we have heard how bad they leak.

Drop-down pendants or swag lamps (on the end of a chain that has the power cord in it) are good for tall ceilings. You can either power them from a junction box in the ceiling or run the power cord over to a hook in the corner of the room (so the chain “swags” down a bit between the lamp and the hook) and then over to an outlet.

easy to put together, and a good basic lamp. can only put 40w bulbs in it, but you can opt for the new CFL’s if you need more light. the 12w ones are like a 60w conventional bulb so that solves that issue.

This lamp was easy to put together and is great quality–especially for the price. The base is weighted, so it’s pretty hard to tip over which is a huge plus when you have little kids/toddlers. Being able to position the lights is really nice. Great lamp.

It’s well-built. Sure, plastic tends to be cheap, but the lamp shade plastic isn’t flimsy. It’s sturdy plastic. No one goes to a lamp to stare at it up close. The most anyone will do is go to it to turn it on. From a distance, the lamp looks fancy. |

99% of my shots use sunshine.
When doing portraits outside I definitely have reflectors. I do not like the look of using a flash to balance the contrast.

Question by G mon: Which is more efficient? Is it better to run the ceiling fans 24/7 or just when you are in the room and?
want to cool off. I have a family member who thinks that running the fans keeps the house cooler. But why must you run the ceiling fan and close the door to the room. Plus I’m not 100% convinced that running 6 ceiling fans keeps the house cooler vs. the a/c moving the air and the cost of running the ceiling fans. So, whats more efficient? A/C plus ceiling fans or A/C plus ceiling fans only when you are in that particular room.

The only surefire method to prove which is more efficient is to do a comparison of three test-months.
Try a month of solid AC and month of limited ceiling fan and AC, finally a month of just ceiling fans.
You’ll probably find that you’re paying a higher utility bill when you run the AC alone without the ceiling fans. But for me, if I’m not in a room, I don’t like to leave appliances (and fans) running!
