Fuhghettabout any other ceiling fan,
Ok, fughettabout comparing this fan with a Home Depot ceiling fan. Not even in the same category! This ceiling fan rocks!
I can’t even put this fan on high without blowing last month’s deferred dusting into the ambient air. It’s a whole different world from my prior ceiling fan. I can’t imagine I’ll be wanting for additional airflow from my ceiling fan in the foreseeable future.
This fan is so totally more than I even conceived to expect from a ceiling fan.
I work in my home office three and a half days out of five weekdays on average. It gets uncomfortably hot fairly often during the summer months and also into the fall. I have an air conditioner for when things get extreme, but that’s only 15 or 20 days a year. On warm days I had been depending upon a box fan to bring outside air into my office (with several computers/servers and displays each contributing their own heat) to bring down the ambient temperature and a hampton bay (home depot) cheapie ceiling fan to maintain a comfortable working environment.
That wasn’t cutting it lately so I was looking for an upgrade on the ceiling fan side. I found this fan fairly highly rated and figured I needed to spend more given the shortcomings of my home depot cheapie fan. That fan was kind of quiet on high-speed, but really buzz-buzz-buzz on medium or low (had to pull a chain for that by the way). That got to be a distinct irritation on in-between days and I could tell I was in “you-get-what-you-pay-for” territory.
I decided to explore the high-end and man I am not looking back.
This Casablanca fan is totally quiet on every speed (and roughly five times the airflow on each setting). My first hint was that the motor weighs about four times more than the Home Depot model. Pretty sure that contributes to the quiet operation. Not sure about all the electrics involved, but I’m pretty sure there’s a lot more copper (windings) on the internals.
I will be comfortable in my home office earning hundreds of times more than the cost of this fan over its useful life. If I was a resentful type of guy I would resent having spent the few tens of dollars on a cheapie fan to learn I should just go with a real solution to my home office hot-day air circulation problem. But I’m not the resentful type. I’m grateful to Casablanca for teaching me how great a well-engineered and well-manufactured ceiling fan can be and also grateful to Home Depot for teaching me how much of a compromise the easily affordable alternative is. The Home Depot version is on its way to Goodwill.

|Great Purchase,
I purchased this fan six months ago (in November), and wanted to wait to write a review, till I used it for awhile.
This fan replaces a black & chrome Concord fan after only eight years, the motor died.
I searched a lot for a chrome/steel & black combination (not so easy to find in 44″ size)to coordinate with my decor. This fan comes with Espresso (dark brown) blades, not what I wanted. A store I went into here in NYC (where I live) that carries Casablanca fans told me I can order separate blades from Casablanca for an additional $100! So, with the store price, about $50 more than through Amazon, and extra for the blades, plus the money I would have to spend on a taxi to get it home, this was going way over my budget, how can I get this for less? I realized I had enough points on my credit card to get a $100 Amazon gift certificate, so far so good, I was getting close to making a decision. I then read reviews which are very good for Casablanca products, and it comes with a lifetime gauruntee for the motor, this fact sealed the deal! I was happy with the purchase price on Amazon (less my $100 gift certificate) and no shipping cost. I did pay extra for the black blades I wanted (purchased directly from Del Mar), but I still got a deal for exactly what I wanted!
Assembling the fan and mounting it was very easy following the instructions, it took my brother about an hour, give or take from start to finish.
I love the fan! It’s very good looking, and I like the remote control, the fan is silent, and powerful (more than my previous Concord fan). The only drawback is the light is 100 watts, which is not very bright, even for a small room. The manual states a higher wattage bulb won’t be compatable. My previous light/fan took a 200 watt bulb, which was very bright, and I used the dimmer most of the time to bring the light down. I have to call Del Mar and double check if I can replace with a higher wattage bulb, if not then I may get a small lamp, or something.

|Top Quality,
This fan is amazingly quiet. There is no motor noise, and on high I wonder if it might cause a tornado to happen in the room. I have seen some people say that the light output is not enough. For the room that I have it in aprox 11×14″ the light output is great. This fan has me sold on the Casablanca brand, worth every penny that I paid for it.
